Common types of awning fabrics
- Acrylic: A popular choice known for its durability and resistance to weathering. Acrylic is breathable, resists fading from UV light, and repels water, making it well-suited for humid climates.
- Polyester: Resilient, abrasion-resistant, wrinkle-resistant, and easy to clean. Polyester fabrics are often coated with vinyl or acrylic to enhance their water and UV resistance.
- Vinyl: Prized for its strength and waterproof properties. Vinyl laminated or coated polyester is highly resistant to mildew, UV rays, and ideal for humid environments. However, it may be less breathable and can be heavy.
- Canvas: A traditional and classic fabric, often made from cotton, hemp, or linen. Canvas is durable but requires treatments for water and UV resistance. Regular maintenance is essential to prevent mildew and fading.
